6 Warning Signs That Indicate Your Liver Is Full of Toxins

Your liver is the most hardworking organ in your body. It removes all the toxins and filters the blood coming from the digestive system. Although the liver is an ultra-effective toxin remover, it also has many other important functions for all body systems.

Here are the most common warning signs that show your liver is crying for help.

1. Chronic fatigue

The symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome look like the flu, and you might experience the symptoms for at least 6 months before you can be diagnosed with this illness. The reason behind chronic fatigue is the intoxication of the liver. The healthy liver turns glucose into glycogen and supplies the body with energy. The diseased liver, however, can hardly produce glucose and has very little space to store it.

2. Yellow eyes and skin

Yellow skin or yellow eyes are other symptoms of the ill liver. This condition is also called jaundice, and it’s not an illness by itself, but is an indication for possible malfunctioning. Normally, jaundice occurs when a diseased liver makes the body accumulate too much bilirubin, which is a yellow pigment formed by the breakdown of dead red blood cells in the liver. If the liver fails to get rid of bilirubin along with old red blood cells, your eyes and skin turn yellow.

3. Allergies

Very often, allergies are the result of an overloaded and lethargic liver. The healthy liver cleanses the blood of all the harmful molecules and eliminates the potential allergens. But, if there are too many substances entering the bloodstream, and diseased liver can’t remove, the body releases antibodies and chemicals which cause itchy rashes visible on the skin.

4. Leg and ankle swelling

When a liver is ill, it tries to repair itself by forming scar tissue and accumulating fluid in the lower parts of the body, particularly in the legs and ankles. The swelling is painful, but still is a sign that something is wrong with your liver.

5. Weight gain

If you constantly struggle with weight gain, besides everyday exercising and healthy diets, you should definitely discuss with your doctor of possible improper liver function. When the liver cannot deal with all the toxins coming in, such as alcohol, artificial sweeteners, or high-fat foods, it stores all the unfiltered toxins in fat cells, which might be the reason why you gain weight.

6. Pain in the liver area

Feeling constant pain in the upper right area of your abdomen is a sign that your liver might be ill. The pain is usually dull, and it can become intense with time. When the liver is affected by a disease, it cannot operate efficiently, it swells painfully, and the body sends the signs of toxicity.
